Wages vs Gift: Eternal Life

Romans 6:23 tells you that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. In Neville's language, sin is not a deed but a state of consciousness—a posture of separation from your own I AM. Death is the old sensation that life is scarce, that you must toil for life’s favors. The gift, however, is God’s own life entering your awareness, the eternal Life already present in you as your very being. Jesus Christ our Lord represents the indwelling Christ, the victorious Self that awakens when you turn from the dream of limitation to the I AM that you are. When you assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled—living as if you are already in possession of eternal life—the outer world shifts to reflect it. You do not earn it; you realize it. The moment you acknowledge that you are the consciousness that sees, the wages of sin dissolve and you find yourself living as Life, here and now, in harmony with God’s gift.
