Inner Mastery: Romans 6:16

Romans 6:16 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Romans 6 in context

Scripture Focus

16Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Romans 6:16

Biblical Context

The verse states that you become the servant of whatever you obey; yielding to sin leads to death, while yielding to righteousness leads to life.

Neville's Inner Vision

I tell you, your world does not come to you from outside; it is summoned from within by the state you obey. 'Yield yourselves' means you endow a portion of your awareness with obedience—therefore you become its servant in fact. If your inner assent is given to fear, lack, or sin, you awaken a deadened, death-bound state. If, however, you consent to obedience unto righteousness, you awaken a living, upright condition of consciousness in which right action, peace, and true alignment flourish. The 'master' is not a person or fate; it is your own I AM, the awareness you identify with. By recognizing that you are an inner chooser, you can revise any situation by a simple assumption: that you are already the kind of being who obeys righteousness, now. The moment you 'obey' this new rule in imagination, you displace the old habit and the external circumstances shift accordingly. Remember, God is your awareness; your images are the catalysts that transform your life.

Practice This Now

Imaginative_act: Assume you are already governed by obedience unto righteousness. In a moment of challenge, picture yourself responding with calm, loving firmness, and feel the change as real.
