Dead to Sin, Alive in God

Romans 6:1-11 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Romans 6 in context

Scripture Focus

1What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
9Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
10For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
11Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:1-11

Biblical Context

Romans 6:1-11 teaches that believers are dead to sin through union with Christ and should now walk in newness of life, reckoning themselves alive to God.

Neville's Inner Vision

Your true self is the I AM, and in this passage the believer is invited to a radical shift of consciousness. To be baptized into Jesus Christ is to be immersed in the death of the old man—dying to those old identifications—so that, as Christ rose, you too rise into a fresh state of awareness. Do not search for victory only in external behavior; recognize that the body of sin is dissolved when your inner life embraces the truth of union with the risen Lord. The mind, once tethered to guilt, now aligns with a new rhythm: you are dead to sin, alive to God, and death exercises no dominion here. If the tomb of the past is closed by your knowing, you walk in newness of life in every present moment. Reckon this so in your imagination and feel its reality until it is your immediate experience.

Practice This Now

Assume the end: I am dead to sin, alive unto God, and feel that truth filling your entire awareness. Silently repeat, I AM that I AM, letting the risen life unfold in your present experience.
