Inner Peace By Faith

Romans 5:1-11 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Romans 5 in context

Scripture Focus

1Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
5And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
6For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
11And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
Romans 5:1-11

Biblical Context

Paul declares that justification by faith brings peace with God through Christ, and that faith grants access to grace and hope. He also shows that tribulation can produce patience, experience, and hope as God's love is poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit.

Neville's Inner Vision

Consider that justification by faith is not a legal verdict out there, but a shift in your inner state. When you affirm I am justified by faith, you are claiming your consciousness is already reconciled to God, and through this inner alignment you stand in grace. The peace Paul writes of is present right now, a covenant of unity within your own awareness, so that life moves through you without alienation. Tribulations are inner movements that call forth patience, which becomes experience, which matures into hope. Each such movement invites you to rest in the love God has shed into your heart by the Holy Spirit given to you. If you remember that Christ died for the ungodly, you remember grace precedes effort; your safety comes from the life within, not from external conditions. Therefore, being justified by His life, you are saved by your awakened consciousness, and the atonement is simply the ongoing realization that you and God are one in the I AM.

Practice This Now

Imaginative_act: Close your eyes and assume the state I am justified by faith now, feeling the grace as your present condition. Stay with that feeling and let love fill your heart, knowing the atonement is your ongoing inner reality.
