Blessedness Beyond Circumcision

Romans 4:9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Romans 4 in context

Scripture Focus

9Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.
Romans 4:9

Biblical Context

The verse asks whether blessedness comes only to those with outward signs or to all who believe; it asserts that Abraham's righteousness was grounded in faith, not ritual.

Neville's Inner Vision

Is the blessed state reserved for those with outward marks? The inner answer is that the sign is aside; the blessing comes to any who, like Abraham, believe. Faith reckoned for righteousness is not an external ceremony but a moment of inner recognition. When you acknowledge the I AM as your essential self, you are counted righteous by your own inner judgment—that is, by faith. The circumcision and uncircumcision are but symbols of inner states. Whether you think in terms of cutting away limitation or keeping the old self, the true verdict rests with your awareness. Do you dwell in the consciousness that life is God, that God is your consciousness now? If you do, you are the beneficiary of the promise. You and Abraham share the same internal faith—the conviction that your life is grounded in the eternal. Thus blessedness is not a privilege of a chosen race, but a function of your inner trust in the I AM. Let your life be guided by that faith; and the body, the circumstances, and the days will reflect the righteousness you have already accounted to yourself by belief.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Assume the line 'I am the I AM, and I am righteous by faith now.' Feel the certainty as a living sensation in your chest and imagine the inner credit being written into your life.
