Scripture Focus

12And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.
Romans 4:12

Biblical Context

Romans 4:12 presents Abraham as the father of circumcision for those not circumcised by outward signs, yet who walk in the faith he had uncircumcised. It declares true lineage comes by faith, not ritual.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of the verse as a revelation about consciousness. Abraham’s faith, lived before any external rite, is the pattern of your own inner birth. The phrase 'father of circumcision' becomes a symbol: the one who births the fruit of trust in your world through the I AM you are. The 'uncircumcised' condition is a state of openness to God within, not a defect; to walk in the steps of that faith is to align your thoughts and feelings with the conviction that God is awareness here and now. When you dwell in the I AM, you are the father or mother of the inner circumcision—cutting away fear, doubt, and the old sense of separation. This is the covenant loyalty: obedience to inner promptings rather than outward rules. The lineage by faith includes you regardless of external rites because faith is an inner posture you can choose in this moment. In this light, the entire verse invites you to become conscious of your own inner Abraham: the one who believes and thereby creates. Your world follows your belief in that presence.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, breathe, and state, 'I am the I AM; I walk in the steps of Abraham’s faith now.' Let the sense of inner trust rise and rest in that presence.
