Inner Law and Justification

Romans 3:19-20 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Romans 3 in context

Scripture Focus

19Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
20Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Romans 3:19-20

Biblical Context

The passage says the law speaks to those under it to silence every mouth and make all the world guilty before God. It also declares that by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified.

Neville's Inner Vision

Romans 3:19-20 shows you what the law does when you take it as truth: it speaks to the 'under the law' self and closes the mouth of the ego, rendering the world guilty before God. But the law cannot justify; it reveals sin, the sense of separation. In my teaching, 'God' is your I AM, the pure awareness that witnesses every scene. When you stand in that awareness, the outer commandments no longer condemn you; you are not under them as a controlling judge, you are within the freedom of consciousness that already is complete. The verse reminds you that justification does not come from deeds; it comes from the revival of your inner state—the conviction that you are the child of God, beloved and complete. Let the mind revise: 'I am the I AM that he is' or 'I am the righteousness of God in Christ' as you assume the truth of your own unity with God. Feel it as real; let images of imperfection fade in the light of your unshakeable knowing.

Practice This Now

For 5 minutes, close your eyes and repeat 'I am the I AM' and 'I am justified now' until the feeling of separation fades and your consciousness rests in wholeness.
