The Law as Inner Truth
Romans 2:17-20 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Romans 2 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage exposes a person who rests in the external form of the law and boasts in God, imagining they are a guide to others, yet lacking true inward sight. It contrasts outward knowledge with the need for inner transformation.
Neville's Inner Vision
Whenever you say 'I know the will,' you have mistaken the outer law for the living I AM within. The Jew in you who rests in the letter is only an outward mask; the light you think you cast on others is the glow of an inner conviction that has not yet become actuality. In truth, you are not the instructor of the blind; you are the awareness that makes all seeing possible. When you cling to the form of knowledge, you keep the truth at arm's length; the law becomes a costume rather than a living power. The remedy is to revise your sense of self until you inhabit the feeling that I AM is the source of all light and guidance. Let the separation dissolve, and watch the world reflect your inner state. Imagination is the instrument by which you awaken; as you sustain a new inner state, the external appearance of life rearranges to show the truth of your inner I AM.
Practice This Now
Assume the I AM as your sole law and revise your sense of self away from the letter. Feel that awareness now and let it govern every thought for a few minutes.
