Paul warns to mark those who cause divisions and to avoid them. He commends obedience and urges wise discernment about evil, while promising the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet.
Neville's Inner Vision
Viewed from the I AM within, Romans 16:17–20 reveals not a command about others, but a map of inner states. 'Divisions' are the thoughts that split you from your true unity; 'those who cause' are the insinuations your mind entertains when it forgets its oneness. To 'mark' them is to bring these thoughts to light in the field of awareness, without judgment; to 'avoid' them is to withdraw your imaginative energy from their dramatic pull. Your obedience to the teaching becomes fidelity to the good you already are, and being 'wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil' means holding attention on harmony rather than fear. The 'God of peace' is the I AM that you are; as you dwell in that peace, the inner adversary—Satan—shrinks beneath your mental foot, a symbol of belief losing its power. The victory is spiritual and immediate: a disciplined consciousness that refuses to feed separation, allowing grace to work through you. In such alignment, you walk in victory and know the promised peace in every moment.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and state, with feeling, I am one with the God of peace. Then revise any rising thought of division by affirming there is only unity here until it feels true.
