Salute Rufus: An Inner Salutation

Romans 16:13 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Romans 16 in context

Scripture Focus

13Salute Rufus chosen in the Lord, and his mother and mine.
Romans 16:13

Biblical Context

Paul greets Rufus, calling him chosen in the Lord, and includes Rufus's mother alongside his own mother in the blessing. It signals that intimate family ties are held within the spiritual order.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within the Lord, Rufus represents a quality you have chosen in your consciousness, a state of alignment with the divine will. Rufus stands for a trait you affirm as real in the I AM, such as trust, steadfastness, or grace. His mother and my mother point to two feminine currents of life energy inside you—the nurturing impulse and the inner memory of origin—each seen as aspects of your awareness, not separate people. The message is to recognize that these currents are already within you because you are the Lord as awareness. Therefore, greet them with gratitude, make them present in your mind as lived reality, and hold them in the light of your attention. When you treat these inner relations as real now, you revise your sense of relation to others and awaken to the truth that your life is the outward expression of the I AM choosing itself as you.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Assume that Rufus and his mother are inner states of consciousness already in the Lord; greet them with gratitude, and feel the maternal energy as your own I AM. Then dwell in that revised sense of relation for a minute, letting the reality of oneness soften any separation.
