Romans 15:5–6 encourages believers to be of one mind and one mouth, so that God may be glorified together.
Neville's Inner Vision
To be like-minded toward one another is to recognize that the unity Paul speaks of is not a social program but a state of consciousness you can assume now. The God of patience and consolation is the I AM within you, the steady awareness that does not waver when others disagree. When you align your inner state with the Christ within, you are already one with every voice that speaks in your world, for there is only one mind at work—God's. The requirement 'one mind and one mouth' becomes your daily realization: your words and your thoughts harmonize because you have assumed a single, divine premise. Do not seek to change others; revise your own inner state and let the outer scene reflect that reality. Your perseverance, your consolation, and your capacity to listen become the outward signs of an inward agreement. By inwardly agreeing with the Christ in you, you render all outward differences moot and invite a glorious, undivided worship.
Practice This Now
Assume the state of oneness now: I am one in God with all who share this life. In quiet, repeat 'We are one mind, one mouth, glorifying God,' and feel that unity flooding your chest before you speak.
