Romans 15:20-21 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Romans 15 in context

Scripture Focus

20Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation:
21But as it is written, To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see: and they that have not heard shall understand.
Romans 15:20-21

Biblical Context

Romans 15:20-21 speaks of preaching the gospel where Christ has not yet been named and not building on another's foundation. It promises that those who have not heard will understand when the message is voiced.

Neville's Inner Vision

Viewed through the I AM lens, these verses invite you to preach not by borrowing another's name or creed, but by embodying the living Christ within your own consciousness. Not where Christ was named becomes a discipline of not resting on past formulas; you speak from an inner Christ-state that is available to anyone who will awaken to it. When Paul writes that those not spoken of shall see and those not heard shall understand, he points to a spiritual sight and hearing that arise when the speaker's inner light radiates as reality. The 'foundation' to be avoided is dependence on external authorities; the true foundation is your own awakened awareness. Your task is not to fill a church roster but to awaken the hearer by the reality you are living. If you imagine the gospel as separate from you, you perpetuate separation; if you begin to live as the gospel—conscious, loving, and present—the others will recognize the truth in time. The world is moved by a single state of consciousness realized as you.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and assume you are the living gospel now. Feel the Christ within you and imagine the listener seeing through your inner light.
