Biblical Context
Knowing the time, awaken from sleep; salvation is near. Cast off darkness, wear the armor of light, walk honestly, and clothe yourself with Christ, refusing fleshly lusts.
Neville's Inner Vision
Time, in this teaching, is the moment of awareness you inhabit. To know the time is to know you are not waiting for life to begin; you are the I AM in action, and salvation is the realization that your present consciousness is already whole. The night is the old dream of separation; the day is the light you choose to wear. Cast off the works of darkness by changing the pattern of your thoughts, not by changing the world. Put on the armor of light by assuming you are already clothed with the Lord Jesus Christ—the living idea of your true self. Walk honestly, as in the day, by aligning every decision with that inner Light. Do not feed the flesh with images of lack or craving; make no provision for the lusts thereof by dwelling in visions of wholeness. The practical step is to assume and remain in the feeling that you are awake, that you are the light, and that your next action flows from that awareness.
Practice This Now
If you’re faced with a craving or a distracting thought, close your eyes, breathe deeply, and repeat: 'I am awake now; I wear the armor of light; Christ within governs my next choice,' then act from the felt sense of the lifted, pure self.
