Read Romans 13 in context

Scripture Focus

1Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Romans 13:1

Biblical Context

The verse commands that every soul be subject to higher powers, for there is no power apart from God.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within the scripture, the 'higher powers' are not distant rulers but the states of consciousness you entertain. If you feel resistant or anxious, you are resisting the inner law that governs your experience. The 'powers ordained of God' are the natural correlations of your inner assumption. God, the I AM, is the one power; when you align with the conviction that you are already under the discipline of this inner governor, your outer circumstances begin to conform. Your obedience is not to a person or system but to the certainty that there is only one power at work—your awakened awareness. To walk in this obedience, refuse to grant any external condition the power to define you; instead, consciously decide that your inner state governs your outcomes. The law operates invisibly, and the moment you feel the authority of your own consciousness steadying you, you witness higher orders emerge—the doors open, the timing becomes right, and situations harmonize with your inner truth. This is not subservience to fear but fidelity to the living presence within, a daily returning to the I AM.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly and assume you are already under the higher powers of your inner I AM. Feel the day unfolding in harmony as that inner governor guides every choice.
