Biblical Context
Romans 10:5-8 contrasts the righteousness of the law with the righteousness of faith, showing that true being comes from within. It declares the Word of faith is near, not in distant places, but in your mouth and heart, ready to be spoken.
Neville's Inner Vision
Paul’s contrast is not a historical quarrel between outward duties and inner trust, but a map of states of consciousness. The righteousness of law belongs to the man who seeks external compliance; the righteousness of faith belongs to the man who awakens to the I AM within and speaks from that living presence. When he asks who shall ascend to heaven or descend into the deep, he is really describing the old drama of chasing techniques, conditions, and bargains. But the word of faith is near you, says the text, in your mouth and in your heart. That is not a distant doctrine; it is the innermost reality you are already expressing as your current state of awareness. Christ is not a downtrodden figure to fetch; Christ is your awareness, the living word you have been ever preaching within. To realize salvation and redemption you need not perform external feats, but revise your inner sentence until it matches the truth: I and the Word are one; the word of faith is now. When you assume that inner state and live from it, your outward life realigns to that consciousness.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and silently declare, 'The word is near me, in my mouth and in my heart,' and feel the certainty of that inner reality until it becomes your living tendency.
