Inner Judgment and Imagination

Romans 1:24-25 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Romans 1 in context

Scripture Focus

24Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
Romans 1:24-25

Biblical Context

The passage describes turning from truth to lies as people yield to their own lusts, leading to impurity and dishonor of the body. It shows idolatry as worship of the created thing rather than the Creator.

Neville's Inner Vision

Let us see this as a description of inner states rather than distant history. The 'they' are the scenes in your own mind; the I AM is the Creator within you. When you give up to the lusts of the heart, you entertain images that misstate reality and thus dishonor the body you are living through. To 'change the truth of God into a lie' is to identify with the created form—the creature—rather than the timeless awareness that makes form possible. Worship then becomes attachment to sensation, status, and external things, so your life mirrors a tale told by mental pictures instead of by the unchanging truth. The cure is simple: return to the conviction that you are the I AM, the Creator of your experience. Envision yourself as the living truth animating every cell, and let the inner state align with that truth. As you do, the belief in impurity loses its hold, true integrity returns, and your outer life begins to reflect the spiritual order already established in consciousness.

Practice This Now

Act: In a moment of quiet, assume the state 'I AM' as the source of all you experience, and revise any self-image that identifies with created things. Feel-it-real by dwelling in that awareness for a minute, letting the sense of truth replace fear or longing.
