Scripture Focus

21Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Romans 1:21

Biblical Context

When they knew God, they did not glorify Him or give thanks. Their thoughts became vain, and their heart grew dark.

Neville's Inner Vision

Romans 1:21 speaks to the inner weather of a knowing mind. When one 'knew God,' the inner state did not remain faithful to the recognition; it neglected to glorify God and forgot to express gratitude. In Neville's terms, the awareness that is God—your I AM—was not consciously acknowledged as the source of all; imagination ran on its own, chasing idols of fear or personal meaning. The 'vain in their imaginations' describes the mind insisting on its own small will instead of yielding to the greater Life within. The result is a 'foolish heart' darkened: a mind of shadows tinted by misbelief rather than truth. The cure is inward: reaffirm the one who truly is, the I AM, and greet each moment with gratitude. By choosing to honor God in consciousness and feel gratitude, one restores light to the heart and aligns imagination with the divine reality already present.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Assume the role of the I AM in this moment, declare 'I am grateful to God for this moment,' and let that gratitude reset your imaginal life. Keep that feeling as you go about the day, watching thoughts align with that truth.
