Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Paul introduces his role as servant and apostle, through whom grace comes to the nations, grounded in prophecy and the resurrection of Jesus. He invites Rome to receive grace and peace as the inherited state of the saints.
Neville's Inner Vision
Paul, in this opening, speaks not of history but of states of consciousness. 'Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle' is your inner posture: you serve the Christ within, you accept a vocation to bring the gospel into your day. The gospel of God is not a distant book; it is the living impression the I AM places upon you. The promise 'afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures' is the memory of an inner prophecy waiting to awaken, a sign that the truth has always been present in you. 'Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh' becomes: the Son of God within you arises in the line of your spiritual ancestry, manifested through your disciplined thoughts and feelings. 'Declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead' speaks of the inner resurrection: the old self dies as you claim power from the source of holiness. Through grace and apostleship you are invited to obedience to the faith among all nations, meaning your inner faith extends through every thought-world you inhabit. You are among the called of Jesus Christ, wherever you are, beloved of God, called to be saints; grace and peace are your natural state as you awaken to your true self.
Practice This Now
Assume you are the one called to the inner gospel now. Sit in quiet and repeat, 'I am the I AM, I am the gospel within,' and feel the power of the resurrection waking in your chest.
