Glassy Sea and Four Beasts Within

Revelation 4:6-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Revelation 4 in context

Scripture Focus

6And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.
7And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.
8And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, LORD God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.
Revelation 4:6-8

Biblical Context

Revelation 4:6–8 presents a throne with a glassy sea and four living beings, each different in form, who ceaselessly declare holiness. It symbolically points to inner worship as the state of consciousness through which divine presence is felt.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of the throne as your I AM, the seat of awareness that never moves. The sea of glass is the calm boundary you create within, a boundary that does not separate you from God but keeps the restless images of the world at rest in your attention. The four beasts—lion, calf, a man, and an eagle—represent the four faculties of consciousness in balance: courage and strength; service and stability; intellect and discernment; aspiration and ascent. Their many eyes mean that consciousness is seeing in every direction, yet all is aware within the same field. Their ceaseless cry of Holy, Holy, Holy mirrors a fixed state of reverence that does not come from outward ritual but from your inner recognition that God is present here and now. As you hold this image, recognize that the throne is not a distant throne but your own inner throne of awareness. The presence you seek is always present where you stand, and imagination is the instrument by which you walk into it.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Assume the throne now; feel the seat of awareness. Picture the glassy sea as your calm mind and repeat 'Holy, Holy, Holy' until you dwell in the felt sense of being I AM.
