Revelation 3:7-13 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Revelation 3 in context

Scripture Focus

7And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
8I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
9Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.
10Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
11Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
12Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
13He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Revelation 3:7-13

Biblical Context

The letter commends Philadelphia for keeping the Word and not denying His name, promising an open door and protection from temptation. It invites perseverance with the promise of enduring reward.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within your consciousness there is a holy city, a door that cannot be shut. The open door is not waiting somewhere in the future; it is the door of your awareness when you claim the I AM as your reality. Your little strength is the faith you have already—fed by keeping the Word with patience—and it suffices when you dwell in that assured state. The 'synagogue of Satan' represents misthoughts and lies that declare you separate from God; stand firm and watch those beliefs come to bow before your inner gate, recognizing that you are loved. Because you have kept the word of patience, you are kept from the hour of temptation by the inner discipline of imagination. Behold, I come quickly—this is the immediacy of your inner conversion. Hold fast to your crown by refusing to let fear or doubt take it. He who overcomes becomes a pillar in the temple of God, naming your true self as God’s, and your city, new Jerusalem, arriving from within. This is your inner permanence, written in your God-sense.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and assuming you stand inside the temple of your God, feel an open door before you. Repeat, 'I AM the door that no man can shut; I hold fast my crown,' letting that sense of finished reality saturate you.
