Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
John witnesses the vision and falls to worship the angel; the angel instructs him not to, and to worship God. This shows true worship belongs to the inner God, not to outward forms or messengers.
Neville's Inner Vision
John’s gesture of bowing before the angel is a vivid picture of paying homage to a form in his inner theatre. The angel’s correction, 'worship God,' directs your attention to the sole Source within your consciousness—the I AM that you are. In Neville’s terms, the scene is a state of mind: when you cling to a symbol, a person, or a ritual as ultimate, you obscure the living Presence that animates all expression. The angel is a messenger, not a rival deity; the words 'fellowservant' remind you that every image you honor is a projection of your own mind and serves as a hint to return to the Source. To honor prophecy and promise, you must stabilize your awareness in the God-state within, letting external forms dissolve into symbols that fade when faced with the Reality of God within. By choosing to worship the inner God, you awaken the power of imagination to shape experience, aligning perception with the one Life that creates, sustains, and reveals itself as your world.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly, declare, 'I worship the God within me now.' When a symbol tempts your attention, revise by affirming the inner Source and feel that awareness expand until it eclipses the need for outward worship.
