Inner Fire and the Second Death
Revelation 21:8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse names fear, unbelief, and a host of inner states as qualities that separate us from life. It says these parts share in the lake of fire, the second death—an inner death that ends the old sense of separation.
Neville's Inner Vision
Verse 21:8 presents not individuals apart from you, but inner states of consciousness you may mistake for reality. The 'fearful' and 'unbelieving' are not outsiders but parts of your own imagination given power through attention. The 'lake of fire and brimstone' is the symbolic burning away of false identities—the second death is the end of clinging to a sense of separation from your true self, the I AM. In Neville's teaching, God is not a distant judge but your awareness itself, and all imagery in Scripture reveals the drama of consciousness. When you feel ruled by fear, or trust in appearances, you are worshipping false idols of limitation and weeding the garden with thieves: the list becomes a map of the old self dissolving. By choosing a state of alignment—knowing you are the I AM, that you already possess the needed faith—the inner creation shifts and the outer forms follow. The threat of judgment dissolves into a gentle invitation to revision, to imagine the world as a reflection of your revised state of consciousness.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and revise your state by declaring, 'I am fearless, faithful, and true now' until the truth of it settles as sensation; then picture the lake of fire dissolving into light as the old self is burned away.
