Biblical Context

Revelation 21:19-20 describes twelve foundations of the city’s wall, each foundation named with a precious stone. The passage uses outer symbols to point to an inner, unshakable ground—the Kingdom of God within.

Neville's Inner Vision

Let us regard the twelve foundations as the immutable grounds of consciousness, not stones in a quarry but the states of awareness I entertain right now. The wall is the boundary of my attention—the place where the Kingdom of God is made visible by what I accept as real. Each foundation carries a precious color, a facet of the I AM; to study them is to know that holiness is not future promise but a structure I consciously inhabit. When I align with any one foundation, I am reminded that the many colors are but one light of awareness. The city rises from within because God, the I AM, is present here and now; my sense of separation yields to the stability of this inner city. As I dwell in that certainty, the outer world reflects the inner foundation, and holiness becomes a natural state of being rather than a distant goal.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and envision the City of God within your chest, its wall supported by twelve foundations, each stone shining with a different color. Then revise by affirming the I AM is the ground of your being and feel that holiness already real.
