Returning to Your First Love

Revelation 2:4-5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Revelation 2 in context

Scripture Focus

4Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
5Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
Revelation 2:4-5

Biblical Context

It warns that the soul has left its first love. It instructs remembrance, repentance, and a return to the original works.

Neville's Inner Vision

Your 'first love' is the living memory of your original unity with the I AM—the awareness that you are the creator of your experience. When Revelation says you have left thy first love, it speaks of shifting from this inner state into stories of lack, time, and limitation. Remembrance, in Neville's sense, is turning attention back to the source of all you are: the I AM within. To repent is not to bargain with God, but to revise your inner assumption—choose to dwell in the feeling of already being what you seek. Do the first works: habits of imagination, fidelity to your inner revelation, and consistent acts that flow from your state of oneness. If you persist in living from that original flame, the candle of awareness stays lit, and your outer scene must realign to reflect your inner conviction. The moment you shift your consciousness inward, you have returned to the garden; the world will follow the resolve of your revised inner story.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and recall the moment you first felt the presence of the I AM. Then assume the feeling of that state now, and live from it as your daily posture.
