Biblical Context
An angel stands in the sun and calls all birds to the supper of the great God, inviting the flesh of kings, captains, mighty men, and all people to be consumed.
Neville's Inner Vision
In Neville Goddard's mode, the vision is a psychological drama of consciousness, not a literal apocalypse. The 'angel standing in the sun' represents the fiery, radiant awareness—the I AM—that shines on every belief and identity you have held. The summons to the birds to gather for the supper signals a cleansing movement within: the old forms of power—kings, captains, mighty men, and even the lowly—all are images of your past selves that your awareness now invites to dissolve. When you realize that these identities are only thoughts within the I AM, they are consumed by the consuming light of presence. The external scene thus mirrors an inward revolution: you no longer identify with power, control, or status, for the sun of consciousness eats away those identifications. In this light, the flesh of rulers and of the entire spectrum of humanity becomes the material through which your sense of self is purified. The message is clear: awaken as the unchanging I AM, and let the old stories disappear in the glow of present awareness.
Practice This Now
Imaginatively accept that you are the sun, the I AM; revise, 'These old identities are eaten by my awareness now,' and feel the transformation as you breathe in the present.
