Leaving Babylon Within

Revelation 18:3-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Revelation 18 in context

Scripture Focus

3For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
4And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
5For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
6Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.
7How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
8Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.
Revelation 18:3-8

Biblical Context

Rulers and nations drink the wine of Babylon’s wealth and power, and the merchants grow rich through her delicacies. A heavenly voice bids God’s people to come out so they do not partake in her sins or plagues, for judgment awaits the proud system.

Neville's Inner Vision

Babylon here is a state of consciousness, an addiction to external security, prestige, and the intoxicating 'wine' of appearances. The wine of her fornication is not a city drink, but an inner intoxication that you are separate from the I AM, that abundance comes from outer market and vanity. The kings and merchants are inner faculties that barter truth for comfort; they prosper when you identify with lack and image. The command Come out of her, my people is the invitation to withdraw attention from that belief and to return to the awareness that you are I AM, here and now. When you revise belief and feel the truth of your unity, the so-called plagues dissolve as you stop feeding the dream you created. The doubled judgment—reward her as she rewarded you—reminds you that as you cease to invest in the external, your inner state returns in doubled clarity, power, and peace. The strong Lord God who judgeth her is the law of consciousness that enforces alignment with your true I AM.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Assume you are already free from Babylon within. Revise the belief that security rests on wealth or image, and feel the I AM's sovereign presence in this moment.
