Biblical Context
The verses show plagues of heat and darkness that scorch people and bring pain. Yet the mind's resistance to turning toward God remains unyielding.
Neville's Inner Vision
From the Neville vantage, the fourth angel's vial poured on the sun is a reorientation of your inner light—the sun being the dominant belief you hold about yourself. When this light is intensified, belief burns away the idle, the separative images you have clung to. The power to scorch by fire is the power of charged feeling that tests every thought that claims limitation. People scorch themselves by clinging to a picture of lack and blame; they blaspheme the name of God because their awareness is still under the spell of fear rather than the realization that God is the I AM within. They repent not to give God glory because they have not allowed the true self to shine through the old identity. The fifth vial poured upon the beast's seat introduces darkness to its throne—an old throne of limitation that makes you gnaw at pain rather than revise the image. Yet this is not punishment but invitation to revise. The cure is simple: assume the truth of your oneness, feel the life of God as your immediate awareness, and let the inner sun dissolve the dark throne. It is your felt awakening that changes the outer scenes.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: assume the I AM as your inner sun and revise the scene to witness the beast's seat dissolve into a throne of light. Feel the felt sense of awakening as you declare 'I AM'.
