Biblical Context
Revelation 11:8 describes dead bodies lying in the street of the great city, a symbol for dying inner beliefs; the city is spiritually called Sodom and Egypt, the place where the Lord was crucified in consciousness.
Neville's Inner Vision
To me, this is not a history lesson but a translation of your inner weather. The great city is your present state of consciousness; its streets reflect where attention has become most habitual. The dead bodies are the old beliefs and identifications you have allowed to lie there, untouched by new insight. Sodom and Egypt symbolize hardness and bondage of the mind; the crucifixion reference marks the moment your sense of self yields to a higher idea. The outer scene mirrors your inner posture—if you cling to fear, lack, or blame, you will see decay. Yet the invitation stands: assume a new state of consciousness, feel it real, and dwell there until it appears as your life. When you affirm I AM as the sole reality here, the dead lie down, the city transforms, and the risen Christ emerges within your awareness.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and revise by silently declaring, 'I am the Lord within this city,' and feel the new state as present; let your next actions arise from that certainty.
