Inner Resurrection and Ascension

Revelation 11:7-12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Revelation 11 in context

Scripture Focus

7And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
8And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
9And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.
10And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
11And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.
12And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.
Revelation 11:7-12

Biblical Context

The prophets are killed by external opposition, their bodies lie in the city, people rejoice, and after a brief time life returns; they rise and ascend to heaven.

Neville's Inner Vision

These passages show that what seems to die is not the truth but your old self-beliefs. The beast represents the stubborn habit of a mind that forgets its oneness with God. The 'dead bodies' lying in the street symbolize a stage of consciousness clinging to separation and the old story. Yet the Spirit of life from God enters them after three days, awakening them to a new life. They stand, tremble, and hear a heavenly voice: Come up hither, and they ascend in a cloud. The outer drama of opposition and rejoicing is the theatre on which your inner drama unfolds. Your 'they' are states of awareness; when you refuse to identify with death and live from the I AM, life returns and you rise. The ascent is a shift from fear to trust, from scarcity to abundance, from self-centered striving to unity with God.

Practice This Now

Assume the feeling of being already risen—‘I AM alive and free’—and practice rising in imagination for a few minutes until the sense of ascent becomes natural. Gradually let this ascension extend into your ordinary awareness.
