Revelation 11:2-3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Revelation 11 in context

Scripture Focus

2But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
3And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
Revelation 11:2-3

Biblical Context

The outer court is left outside the temple; the holy city within is protected and empowered. Time is symbolic, and two witnesses stand within to prophesy through imagination.

Neville's Inner Vision

Revelation 11:2-3 becomes a manual for turning outward appearances inward. The 'court' outside the temple represents the world of uncertain appearances; you do not measure it, for it is given into the Gentiles, i.e., into states of consciousness you no longer inhabit. The holy city is the state of awareness you already are, and forty-two months or 1,260 days are simply rhythms of letting your inner truth unfold. Your two witnesses are the two steady faculties of your mind—imagination and awareness—speaking as law within you when you assume the truth you desire and feel it as real now. Clothed in sackcloth signals humility: you do not boast of results, you clothe your mind in quiet expectancy while you prophesy inwardly. Practice the technique: dwell in I AM, revise any sense of lack, and let the imagined scene stand in place of the outer event. When you persist in this inner observation, the outer court loses its power and the holy city rises within as your realized life.

Practice This Now

Assume the inner city is real now. Feel it with your whole being and declare I AM the only reality, letting your imagination witness this truth.
