Neville's Inner Vision
Within the story, the priests and the faithful are your inner states, Moses, Aaron, Samuel, the authorities of your inner kingdom. When they 'call upon the LORD,' they awaken the I AM that stands behind all appearance. The LORD answers not from without but from within, as you persist in the stillness of awareness. The 'cloudy pillar' is the shifting mist of your own imagination; it reveals when you align with the governing principles of consciousness. To hear 'He spoke unto them' is to experience a communication in your own heart, a fresh insight or feeling that confirms what you already know in the depth of I AM. Keeping his testimonies and the ordinance you gave them is the discipline of living by the inner law, not by fear or external circumstance. As you dwell in that law—faith, perseverance, inner obedience—the external world rearranges to fit the pattern of your inner state. The verse invites you to practice the same communion, to approach God with confidence, knowing you are heard as you quietly repeat the name that is your true identity.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly, take a few breaths and declare 'I AM' here now. Visualize a soft cloud above your thoughts guiding you, and revise any anxious thought to align with the inner law, feeling the answer already present.
