Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Psalm 97:7-12 rejects idol worship, proclaims the supremacy of the LORD, and invites the righteous to live in holiness, joyful remembrance of divine order.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of Psalm 97:7-12 as a map of the inner kingdom. Idols are images in the outer world, yet they are really pictures in your own mind; when you say, 'Confounded be ...,' you are waking from sleep and affirming the one I AM that cannot be slain by any image. Zion is the inner city of peace within you; when you hear the judgments of the LORD, you rejoice because truth has corrected the misperceptions of consciousness. For thou, LORD, art high above all the earth: you rise in awareness above every counterfeit god of fear, lack, or limitation. Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: choose to preserve your soul by refusing to resonate with evil thoughts and keeping your attention on the divine order. Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart: that light is your inner illumination, sown by your own recognition of holiness. Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness: remember, the holy I AM is your permanent reality.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, declare, I AM the I AM; revise every idol into the truth of divine presence, and feel the inner light dawn in your heart. Sit with that light until joy and holiness flood your awareness.
