The Inner Light Emerges

Psalms 97:4-5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 97 in context

Scripture Focus

4His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled.
5The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
Psalms 97:4-5

Biblical Context

The psalm depicts the LORD's presence as a powerful force: His lightnings reveal truth, the earth trembles, and the hills melt in awe of the Lord who rules the whole earth.

Neville's Inner Vision

To the I Am within you—the God of your inner house—these verses are not about distant weather, but about your own state of consciousness. The 'lightnings' are the flashes of awareness that illuminate every corner of your mind; when you stand as that awareness, the world you thought solid and separate trembles at the touch of truth. 'The earth saw, and trembled' becomes a shift in your inner weather: as you recognize you are the perceiver, old identities quake and yield. 'The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD' translates to fixed beliefs, habits, or identities dissolving before the undeniable Presence you are. The LORD of the whole earth is not a distant deity but the totality of your awareness—the I AM that is always here. This is the true worship Neville teaches: you bow to your own realized self, not to external rites. When you dwell in that Presence, the external storm loses its grip; you have created your world by your state, and you can revise it by assuming the state of unlimited consciousness.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, affirm 'I AM Presence now governs my life,' then visualize lightnings illuminating your inner landscape and feel old beliefs dissolving as hills melt away.
