Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The psalm celebrates joyful worship through music and praises God for His mighty works. It contrasts the fate of the wicked with the exaltation of the righteous when one abides in God's sovereignty.
Neville's Inner Vision
In this psalm, every image is a vibration of consciousness. The instrument of ten strings and the psaltery symbolize the inner orchestration by which you align with the I AM. God has made you glad by His works, so your joy is not earned from without but realized from within—your awareness triumphing in the works of His hands. The terms ‘enemies’ and ‘wicked’ are not external foes but beliefs that oppose your sovereign state; when you assume the state of I AM, these doubts are scattered as truth rises. The fresh oil and the horn exaltation speak of renewed energy and confident power that flow to you as you hold to the inner decree. To dwell in the depth of God’s thoughts is to rest in the certainty that your life follows a divine order, not a struggle. Thus, your eye and ear perceive the fulfillment of desire as you inhabit the inner kingdom, and your outer life bears witness to the inner reality you cultivate by imagination and faith.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and imagine you are playing a ten-string instrument within; feel the gladness as a done deal. Then declare, 'I am glad through thy work,' and picture inner fears dissolving as you rise in the fresh oil of your inner anointing.
