Read Psalms 91 in context

Scripture Focus

3Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Psalms 91:3-4

Biblical Context

Psalms 91:3-4 promises deliverance from snares and plague, and a protective refuge under divine wings, with truth as shield.

Neville's Inner Vision

Consider this psalm as a window into your own state. The 'snare of the fowler' and the 'noisome pestilence' are not distant dangers so much as the fears and doubts that trap your mind. When you acknowledge that you are the I AM, awareness itself, you deliver yourself by turning from fear to the certainty of being unmoved, for deliverance begins in consciousness. 'He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust' becomes your practiced posture: you retire from turmoil into the inner shelter of the I AM, where the feeling tones of protection are felt as real now. The 'truth shall be thy shield and buckler' is not a weapon outside you but the consistent, unwavering conviction that your awareness is unassailable. Thus the outer circumstances respond to the inner image: you are already safe, already protected, and the world discovers that truth when you live from that inner nesting place.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly and assume you are delivered; feel the wings of truth enfolding you as you rest in that awareness, repeating 'I am protected by truth' until safety is vivid.
