Psalms 91:11-16 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The psalm speaks of angels guarding your path, delivering you, and honoring you when you love and call on the divine name.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of Psalm 91 not as an account of external guardians but as a map of your inner state. The angels are states of consciousness you cultivate—attentive, protective, steadfast. To have 'their charge over thy paths' is to acknowledge that your thoughts and feelings determine the steps of your life. They bear you up in their hands, lest you stumble; this is the sense of support that arises when you dwell in the I AM presence rather than in fear. You tread upon the lion and adder by refusing to engage the fear-stories in your mind; you trample the dragon when love for the divine self prevails. 'Because he hath set his love upon me' becomes a concrete practice: set your heart on the I AM, and you align with the deliverer, rising to a higher ground. 'He shall call upon me, and I will answer him' is the daily dialogue of inner assurance; 'I will be with him in trouble' is the steady companionship of your inner God-state. In short, salvation is the realized life of awareness—a long life of steadfast conscious alignment, fulfilled here and now.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: In a quiet moment, assume the stance of the I AM and softly affirm, 'I am guarded by the I AM,' feeling every step as upheld by inner guardians. If fear returns, revise to 'I have set my love upon the I AM' and let the sense of protection lift you into higher ground.
