Biblical Context

Psalm 91:11-12 speaks of angels charged to guard you in all your ways and to bear you up so you won't stumble. It is a poetic image of divine protection.

Neville's Inner Vision

These verses do not describe distant beings; they reveal the state of consciousness you inhabit when you know the I AM. The 'angels' are the disciplined thoughts and faithful imaginations you permit to govern your steps. When you assume the feeling of being guarded, you align with the law that keeps you in all thy ways; there is a lifting of the self that prevents stumbling in fear or doubt. The line 'they shall bear thee up in their hands' becomes the inner support your awareness gives by turning attention from danger toward fulfillment. In this view, 'in all thy ways' means every thought, decision, and movement is watched over by your higher state; you are not separate from protection but the very act of protection when you dwell in I AM. Practice daily, as if you were cultivating a dream you intend to inhabit, that you are now under guard and uplifted by your inner guardians, guided by the Presence that you are.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Sit quietly for 5 minutes and assume the state 'I AM guarded now.' Feel the lift as you walk a path of your choosing, trusting the inner guardians and the Presence that you ARE to sustain you in every step.
