Dwelling in the Secret Place

Psalms 91:1 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 91 in context

Scripture Focus

1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
Psalms 91:1

Biblical Context

The verse invites a conscious dwelling in the Most High, promising protection for those who remain in that inner state.

Neville's Inner Vision

To dwell in the secret place is not a place you go to; it is the state you assume within. The Most High is not a distant sky but the I AM that you are, your continuous awareness. When you become conscious that you are the living, thinking, imagining I AM, you invite the shadow of the Almighty to cover you; not as a decree from without, but as the alignment of your inner weather with divine law. Your outer world then arranges itself as the echo of that inward alignment: protection, guidance, and providence become your habitual atmosphere. The Psalm is teaching you to revise every sense of separation; you do not fear what you cannot see because you know you are the one casting the seeing. Practice by placing your attention on the inner sense of 'I AM' and feel it as warmth and shelter. In that state, you are not seeking refuge; you are the refuge, and the shadow is the natural accompaniment of your awakened consciousness.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and declare, 'I am dwelling in the secret place of the Most High now,' and feel the warmth of the Divine shadow enfold you. Let this feeling revise all sense of danger or lack.
