Scripture Focus

26He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.
27Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.
28My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.
29His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.
Psalms 89:26-29

Biblical Context

The verses describe God promising eternal mercy, a steadfast covenant, and a throne of heaven for a favored king, exalted above earthly rulers.

Neville's Inner Vision

Read as a state of consciousness, this would-be king is your higher self waking to the realization that the I AM is Father, and the rock of salvation is the solid basis of awareness. The line 'also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth' signals your inner birth of a self that stands above outward power when your imagination, not circumstance, rules. 'My mercy will I keep for him forever, and my covenant shall stand fast with him' is the assurance that the gracious relation you sustain with your inner self endures beyond time, kept by your attention. The seed that endures and the throne as days of heaven show that the effects of this inner state will reproduce and stabilize in your experiences. The whole of Psalms 89:26-29 invites you to dwell in the inner government where you are both king and throne, anchored in covenant love and the I AM.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Assume you are the I AM and dwell on your inner heavenly throne. Then affirm 'Thou art my Father, my God' until the sense of covenant mercy becomes your present reality.
