Psalms 87:4-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The psalm speaks of nations being named and counted as born in Zion, highlighting Zion as the true birthplace; it closes with the image that all life and song spring from within that inner city of awareness.
Neville's Inner Vision
View Zion as your own state of consciousness, the city your awareness calls home. When the psalm mentions Rahab and Babylon, see them as the outer patterns of mind—habits, memories, doubts—recognized and included within the larger knowing that I am. To be born in Zion is to acknowledge your nativity in the I AM, the highest self that establishes you. The LORD counting the people when he writes them up is the inner acknowledgment that your life is scripted as a citizen of Zion. Selah invites a quiet pause, a release from striving. And the closing line, 'all my springs are in thee,' tells you that every energy, every resource, and every joy springs from within you, not from without. You are not reaching Zion; you are waking to the truth that you already dwell there. Your life becomes the music and ceremony of an inner temple, where singing and playing are the natural expression of consciousness flowing from the one source within.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly and repeat, 'I am born in Zion' until you feel that present-tense birth; then acknowledge the inner springs rising as if they were the notes and rhythm of your day. Do this daily for a minute and watch your perceptions shift.
