A plea to turn toward God in consciousness, asking for mercy, strength for the servant, and a visible sign of good that proves divine aid.
Neville's Inner Vision
To the reader, this is a call to the I AM turning inward. 'O turn unto me' is the invitation to shift your attention to the awareness you ARE. 'Have mercy upon me' means align with the boundless mercy of your own consciousness. 'Give thy strength unto thy servant' is not begging power from without; it is acknowledging the invincible strength of the I AM that animates every breath. The 'son of thine handmaid' becomes your living, mortal self—your present selfhood—nourished by that same mercy. 'Show me a token for good' asks for a tangible sign that this inward state is real: the right outcome arrives, fear dissolves, and your surroundings bear witness to the peace within. When you affirm, 'thou hast holpen me, and comforted me,' you confess that the God within you has already assisted and comforted you. This is the discipline: assume the state, feel the presence, and dwell there until it is your habitual weather. Your life becomes the echo of the inner fact you accept—that you are the goodness, the strength, and the protection you seek.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly, repeat, 'I turn to the I AM within; I am strong and blessed now,' until the feeling of mercy and strength floods you, then look for a small sign of good in your life today.
