Psalm 85:8-9 speaks of hearing God’s word as peace for the faithful, with salvation near for those who fear Him; it warns against turning to folly.
Neville's Inner Vision
From the I AM vantage, the words of this psalm are not distant events but instructions to the inner man. When it says 'I will hear what God the LORD will speak,' you are invited to assume that a living conversation is happening inside you, the consciousness that you truly are. God will speak peace unto His people and to His saints—this is not a policy but a state of being you enter. The peace spoken is the order of right feeling in your chest, the quiet verdict that every circumstance aligns with the divine arrangement. 'Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him' indicates that salvation is a present proximity of harmony, not a future rescue; it is the recognition that fear is dissolved by the recognition of your likeness to the Divine. To avoid turning back to folly is to refuse the old picture of separation and doubt; you remain in the present tense of the I AM, where glory may dwell in your land. Practice: assume the feeling that this peace is already yours, revise any scene of lack to reflect its completed state, and let your inner response radiate as if the land you inhabit is now glorious.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Sit in quiet with your hand on your chest and repeat, 'I hear God speaking peace to me now.' Then revise a current fear or lack into the sense of near salvation, and feel it as real in your body.
