Inner Shield and Anointed Presence

Psalms 84:9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 84 in context

Scripture Focus

9Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed.
Psalms 84:9

Biblical Context

The verse asks God to be our shield and to look upon the face of the anointed. It points to divine protection and the realized presence within.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within you is the shield; within you is the anointing. When you say 'Behold, O God our shield,' you are not petitioning a distant power; you are awakening the I AM that protects you. 'Look upon the face of thine anointed' invites you to turn attention to the inner radiance—the realized self, crowned by grace. The 'God' in this Psalm is the I AM consciousness that you are, not a person outside. As you persist in the assumption that you are shielded, safe, and anointed, you shift the inner weather: fear dissolves, certainty rises, Providence becomes felt guidance. You become the ruler of your inner realm; authority flows from the awareness that you are seen, cherished, and upheld by the I AM. Each moment you dwell in that presence, you enact the verse: you are protected, led, and sovereign, shaping outward events by your inner state.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, center in I AM, and revise: I am shielded and anointed; God—the I AM within me—looks on with favor.
