Scripture Focus

1How amiable are thy tabernacles, O LORD of hosts!
2My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.
3Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God.
4Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah.
Psalms 84:1-4

Biblical Context

The psalm expresses longing for dwelling in the Lord's courts and the blessing of living in His presence. It pictures the soul and birds sheltering near the altars and a people who continually praise.

Neville's Inner Vision

You are not invited to seek God somewhere distant; God is the I AM within. The tabernacles mentioned are inner states of consciousness you can inhabit right now. When the soul yearns for the courts, that longing is the faithful signal that your imagination is expanding toward a living God within. The sparrow finding a house at your altars is a parable of your mind discovering a home in awareness; the nest is built in the altar of attention where you feed your dreams and bring forth your prayers. Blessed are they that dwell in thy house, for they will be still praising thee—the eternal praise is the steady alignment with your I AM self. Your present experience is the field where this is realized; what you call outside is but the expression of your inner states. By choosing a state of gratitude and imagining the presence of God as resident now, your future becomes present; longing converts to realized faith when you feel it real within.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume you are dwelling in the divine tabernacle now; feel the I AM as a warm, living presence in you. If doubt arises, revise the scene and affirm 'I am the Living God within' until the feeling of reality persists.
