Biblical Context

Psalm 82:1-4 speaks of God judging in the divine assembly and commanding care for the poor and needy. It emphasizes that true justice starts in our inner life and values.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the inner court of your mind, you are the I AM and the mighty council. The gods you imagine are states of consciousness that assume power; when you hear the summons to judge justly, you are being asked to release old images of unfairness and fear. The command to defend the poor and deliver the needy becomes an instruction to revise your inner scenes until the neglected and afflicted are seen with dignity and compassion. By imagining a scene where justice flows and every image is treated with mercy, you enact the divine order. The term wickedness dissolves as you recognize that separation is a mistaken belief in your own consciousness. When you stand as the judge who loves without partiality, you awaken to the truth that the kingdom is within and that mercy and dignity belong to all. Your renewed inner state makes outer conditions obsolete, for you have chosen to live the truth of equality now.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and stand in the inner assembly as the I AM. Revise a recent sense of injustice by seeing the other as deserving and held in righteousness; feel the reality of compassionate justice here and now.
