Read Psalms 80 in context

Scripture Focus

8Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it.
9Thou preparedst room before it, and didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the land.
10The hills were covered with the shadow of it, and the boughs thereof were like the goodly cedars.
11She sent out her boughs unto the sea, and her branches unto the river.
Psalms 80:8-11

Biblical Context

The psalm portrays God forming a vine from Egypt, planting it, and letting it grow to cover the land.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within this psalm, the vine is your inner self, called forth by the I AM from bondage into liberty. Egypt stands for limitation, while God removes the heathen from before the plant and establishes a hopeful field. The room prepared before it is your mind made ready by an unwavering decision: there is room for fullness here. When you take deep root in that decision, life floods in and the inner vineyard becomes a sanctuary of stability. The hills become shade for your being as your roots deepen, and your branches rise tall and strong like cedars of inner perception. Your boughs extend to the sea and your branches to the river, symbolizing influence, abundance, and the wholeness of the Kingdom of God within. Providence is not distant; it is the living order of your awareness, guiding every event as outcomes of your inner state. Trust the I AM to mature this vineyard in time, and dwell in that recognition until your experience testifies to its truth.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, place a hand on your chest, and assume: I am the vine planted in my mind; abundance now takes root and spreads. Feel the canopy shade the hills of your life and reach to the sea and river.
