Biblical Context
Psalm 80:14-17 pleads for God to look on the inner vine and restore the vineyard planted by His hand. It speaks of the fire and cutting down as a result of rebuke, then invites the right-hand man to stand in and empower the son of man within.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within your breathing, the vine is the living consciousness you call 'I.' God is not distant; the 'look down from heaven' is the moment you turn awareness to itself. The vineyard planted by the right hand is your inner capacity, organized by the power you hold as I AM. The branch you made strong for yourself is the part of you God formed to bear witness to His presence. When the fire burns the vineyard and the ground is scorched, you are reminded of a belief that life is threatened by appearances; the rebuke of thy countenance is the verdict that you are not enough, that your garden cannot endure. Yet the psalmist does not condemn you; he invites a reversal: let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand—upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself. In your language, that is the awakening of your own higher self, the I AM seated in you. Sit with this awareness; feel the hand of power resting on your consciousness; watch as limitation gives way to restoration, because God is present as awareness.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the role of the man at thy right hand within your own consciousness. Feel the I AM place its hand on the vine, and allow restoration to begin in imagination as you affirm 'I AM' here and now.
