Read Psalms 8 in context

Scripture Focus

6Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
7All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
8The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
Psalms 8:6-8

Biblical Context

These verses declare that God endowed humanity with dominion over creation. The emphasis is on inner rule and responsible stewardship, reflected in the outer order.

Neville's Inner Vision

Notice that the 'him' in the Psalm is not a mere external ruler but a state of consciousness. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; your life is the theater where your inner vision rules the scene. The 'works of thy hands' are the images you presently hold about yourself and the world; when you acknowledge that all things are under your feet, you acknowledge that your attention, intention, and feeling create form. The beasts of the field, the fowl of the air, the fish of the sea, and the seas themselves symbolize the varieties of experience your inner I AM can organize. Dominion comes not from struggle but from alignment: you awaken to the truth that God, your I AM, is the presence that commands every situation. As you assume the feeling of sovereignty, you revise limitation into order; you place underfoot every fear, every doubt, every lack, and you let the currents of imagination carry your life to harmony and provision.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Close your eyes for a moment and assume you, the I AM, are sovereign over your inner world; feel the weight of that authority beneath your feet. Then revise any limitation by silently declaring, 'I AM Dominion over all things,' and let the feeling of it real wash through you.
