Biblical Context
Israel provokes God by turning away from His testimonies and worshiping idols. As a result, God withdraws His presence and strength, delivering glory into the enemy's hand.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the theater of your mind, the nations here are not distant lands but inner states of consciousness. The Most High God is the I AM, the indwelling awareness that testifies to what is real in you. To tempt Him is to cling to idols—high places, cherished beliefs, and images you worship outside your own ruling center. When your aim is directed by fear or desire rather than by the truth of I AM, your bow becomes deceitful; you cannot hit the true target because your consciousness is misaligned. Provocation and jealousy arise, not from a deity outside you, but from your own insistence on a separate self. In that moment, the sanctuary inside—the tabernacle of Shiloh—feels forsaken, and your inner strength and glory seem handed over to the imagined enemy—the lack, the doubt, the sense of abandonment. Yet the answer is within: return to the simple recognition that you are the I AM, not the idol. By choosing alignment with the inner law, the exile ends, the sanctuary is restored, and your power—your strength and glory—reclaim their rightful place in your life.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and repeat, I AM the Lord of my life; declare that there are no other gods in my mind, only the I AM. Then feel, as if it already happened, the sanctuary within becoming solid and your strength returning.
