Biblical Context
Psalm 78:15-16 speaks of God providing water by striking rocks in the wilderness; streams emerge to sustain the people.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the psyche, the wilderness is the state of consciousness where lack seems real. When the I AM is acknowledged as the only reality, the rock can be cleaved—not by effort but by a shift in belief. The rock represents fixed habits and fears poured into the subconscious; the great depths are that vast fountain of possibility beneath awareness. As you assume a new inner state, the inner rock yields streams that run down like rivers. This living water is not a miracle outside but a movement of consciousness: provision, mercy, grace, and guidance appear as you stand in the awareness that you are forever supplied. Providence becomes a personal practice of faith and trust: the moment you feel the I AM supplying, you align with the ongoing current of support, not the erratic weather of circumstance. The verse invites your imagination to cleave the barrier and release a constant stream by feeling already endowed with what you seek. Your task is to imagine, assume, and dwell in the sensation of the water coming from the rock within.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the inner rock is cleaved by the I AM, and water flows now; dwell in the felt sense of being supplied for a minute.
